About Ceris

Ceris Jones

Ceris Jones was born in York in 1956 and lives and works in Preston. She graduated with a BA Honours in Fine Art in 1982 at Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and achieved a PGCE in Art & Design the following year at Leeds. She went on to pursue a teaching career in Art in mainstream education.

Having developed an interest in caving and diving over more recent years, Ceris has made the human form of cavers and divers the main focus for many of her studies.

In August 2009, Ceris retired from teaching and is now devoting more time to producing her own work.

BIOGRAPHY

Sept 1978 – 1979  -  Foundation Course, Wrexham College of Art.
Sept 1979 – 1982  -  B.A.(Hons) Fine Art, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne
Sept 1982 – 1983  -  Post Graduate Certificate in Education, Leeds

In 1994, she became a Founder Member of the International Society for Speleological Art.

After teaching Art in mainstream education, Ceris is now devoting more time to producing her own work.
She has exhibited in many parts of Britain, Australia and the United States.
